How NOT to install #5

Hi there… Yet another post of How NOT to  do something.

This electric fence was installed by a “weekend-installer”, looking to make some quick $$$.

Costs were cut a every corner, starting with the poles. Home-made and rusting, they couldn’t hold the bobbins up or stand up to the tension of the wires. As there were no corner stays, the fence pulled in on itself.

Also look at the wire used, normal electric wiring, which didn’t last very long in the sun, with insulation flaking off, causing shorts all over the fence.

Look at the pretty tree… There is actually a fence in there somewhere, obviously not an ideal situation.

Due to the wrong materials being used, almost everything was covered in rust, even the ridiculous attempt at earthing the fence on on of the brackets.

The solution to the client’s problematic fence was quite simple: Remove the entire old fence and install a new one, with the proper equipment, correct number of earth spikes and gate contacts on the sliding gate.
